History

GRUMBLEWEED was built in 1974 by Swan Line Cruisers as a leisure narrowboat for private ownership, built on the same lines and hull shape as those of the Swanline hire boat fleet. The vessel's hull is of steel, and the top is GRP. She was originally fitted with a Lister SR2 engine, which is still present. She still retains her original livery, and her internal fixtures and windows remain as they were as built.

GRUMBLEWEED was purchased new in 1975 by J and P Steer for use during family holidays across the inland waterways, and still remains in family ownership. During her life, she has travelled throughout the network, including Liverpool, Llangollen, Bath, Godalming, Lechlade, Cambridge,Bishops Stortford, Hertford, and Sharpness, but has been primarily based around the Midlands canal network.
