History

Maid of Shannon SSR183944 was built by David Hillyard Boatbuilders the first one of ten 11Tonner Motor Sailer to be built under the design of Dennis Cullingford. A long keeled ketch with a transom with two hard chines. 

Length 33.1ft beam 9’ 6” and a draft of 4ft Varnish with brightwork to topsides of the cabin, wheelhouse and toerails. A ketch rig of 350 square feet of sail and an airy doghouse and sheltered cockpit. 

A large head at the front on the saloon and another in the rear cabin, both Blake’s make’s for a very comfortable living arrangement. Powered by a 36hp Mercedes Benz OM363 diesel engine and Meadows TMP Gearbox with 2:1 reduction Ken and Margaret Pausey owned her of forty years, keeping her immaculate condition. 

Maid of Shannon came into her ownership in October 2021 and they have strived to keep her in as original condition as possible and keep to as higher standards as her previous owner.
